DARK GAIA'S PROFILE

I develop games and I write. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and journalism. I like writing speculative fiction, horror and literary fiction, sometimes all blended together. You can find elements of my writing in my games, because I consider my games to be stories just that happen to have gameplay.

I post updates on my Facebook and Twitter:

Misaos Voting Reminder 2010

Ah, I see. That makes sense.

Excellent! Thank you, I shall address those right away. Basically, what you see now is something I made roughly eight months ago and then abandoned. I wanted to polish it up before I continue, as chances are it was not going to be very good.

I appreciate your time.

Just so you know though, the lines during the robbery and during Sadeske's flashback referring to actions only seem silly because I don't have the sprites to express the actions yet. These are incoming.

Also, my main idea for Sadeske is that he quite plainly thinks he's some fantastic legendary hero and that all his observations are of things he thinks only his superior wit could notice - hence how he states the obvious all the time, or jumps to conclusions (such as the robbery, though in this case, coincidentally, he was correct).

In addition, I know I'm not doing Rean correctly. He's been on the run for years, not trusting anybody. He's haunted and paranoid. He's supposed to be a bit melodramatic.

Misaos Voting Reminder 2010

On kentona's insistence, I tried to make RRR aware of the MISAOS, but they declared the post an "advertisement" and have removed it.

EDIT: Cast my votes. Quick question - why do some games not have all the categories? For example, Set Discrepancy has only half of them.

If enough people really don't like the RTP I suppose I can change it with a bit of work, but I'm more concerned about the mechanical/gameplay aspects of the game. Can anyone provide suggestions in that area?

Hmm, I thought I did turn it off. Hmm, an error on my part, friend. I'm uploading a new version as I type this (mainly because the game now has a different music soundtrack) and I'll implement that fix.

EDIT: There is a command there when entering the Inn to turn the rain off. It did trigger when I tried it just now, but sometimes for some reason in VX, such commands are skipped occasionally.

Let's Try - Season 3

Ah, you did an LT of ON2. I was unaware of this, and will watch it now. About time I overhauled that game. Thanks for the time by the way, I do appreciate it. It felt cruel to laugh, but I couldn't help smiling a little. However, ON2 is apparently the scariest of the three, so you've seen my worst.

EDIT: Hmm, I never did personally have a problem with the font (and nobody I know of has reported any), but I get your point, and I'll release a version of the game with a clearer font. And I probably should touch up the writing as well... It simply smacks of being two years old and filled with ellipses.

Legionwood: Tale Of The Two Swords

Hmm, it should still work if you just press left; as far as I know I didn't disable the feature as I haven't even touched the AP script since the game was released.

One Night: Full Circle

Perhaps "morality" is the wrong word for it. Rather, you're scored based on how sympathetic/empathetic your responses are. In this case, the more sympathetic "I'm really sorry for your loss" is better than the somewhat selfish "at least you're still alive" which disregards the loss of the other person.

As per your question about ideas, I generally think of a story first, then try to build a game around it.

Thanks for your comments anywho, and I shall indeed work hard on Legionwood 2. Remember, as I warned when I released the demo, it's in no way completely polished and final. The first game is the result of three years of work; that demo is the result of two months of work so they cannot compare as of yet.
